Week 7 - June 27- July 3, 2016
6/27 - day 43 - Framing fix-up
6/28 - day 44 - ?
6/29 - day 45 - Insulation (Ryan)
6/30 - day 46 - County Inspection & Insulation ("elves")
7/1 - day 47 - No work
7/2 - day 48 - Drywall on first floor started
7/3 - day 49 - No work
Well, this was a pretty boring week. Other than my husband and his awesome friend sneaking in Thursday night to install extra insulation in the garage, there was not much major progress.
Insulation, inspections, and the very start of drywall.
I had planned to stop by the house to write some verses and poems on the framework before insulation went in, but have been feeling crummy, and didn't make it. Chance missed. :(
In more exciting news, we took advantage of the July 4th sales this weekend and purchased our washer and dryer at Best Buy! Checked prices at Home Depot and HH Gregg, and all had the same deal running- $400 off each piece. We also put some furniture on hold with another great sale at Mealey's; including a morning-room set I didn't think was on our "must" list, but somehow ended up there. Also on hold - 2 sofas for the family room, and furniture for Munchie's "big girl room".
The unexpected purchase of a new morning room set means that I'll have to use our old dining room set for now. But it's a fair trade for the new beauty that will get daily use!

Loving that you're calling the washer and dryer "sexy". haha! I LOVE our washer and dryer and I am thrilled that I will soon have an actual ROOM with a CLOSING DOOR to do our laundry! And it's upstairs-- huge plus to us! In our townhome, we have a separate laundry room, but our washer and dryer are basically "too big" and the door doesn't close. It's annoying.
ReplyDeleteI found a dining room set over the weekend too that I am IN LOVE with! We are going to put it in the morning room though as we figure that's where most of our eating will be done. Not quite sure what we are doing with the "formal" dining room yet, hahaha!
And yay for drywall being started at least! It really seems to fly by and I felt that we actually had a HOUSE once the drywall was up. There's just something about those walls.
I LOVE your furniture pieces and your washer and dryer. We've decided to get a front load cause I'm a shorty and have to stand on my tip toes to reach the bottom of the machines LOL! I just don't like the moisture buildup and potential mold issues on the front loaders. I'm hoping the newer models have solved these issues.
ReplyDeleteWe are just starting our journey, we go to closing on our current home on July 22nd, Ryan is in the process of pulling or building permits now, or at least that is what we were told, pre construction meeting with our PM is scheduled for 7/15, we have picked all of our colors inside and out, flooring , we went with elevation L which is a cottage elevation in our neighborhood. We are very excited to get started. You have so much good info in your blog, thanks for doing this, I can't wait for your next post! The best Rome blog I've found, also the most current, Best of luck, post lots of pics, I will be following your progress.
ReplyDeleteDayle - thanks for the kind remarks on the blog. Good luck with your build!
DeleteThat's the washer and dryer that we will be purchasing as well! Love it! I also love your furniture choices. And I'm a little jealous because our purchases will have to wait a bit. I will just have to live vicariously through you :)
